  • Our Commitment to the Twin Lakes Area

As one of the pioneer Arkansas hospices, Hospice of the Ozarks has led the way in supportive care since 1979.  Proudly serving residents in Baxter & Marion counties for over 40 years, our focus on caring for our community with expertise and compassion never waivers.  Through leadership, excellence & education, Hospice of the Ozarks remains the leading hospice resource to anyone in the Twin Lakes area.

  • Still Nonprofit

As the area’s only not-for-profit, 501 c3 hospice organization, our focus remains on caring for our community, not maximizing our bottom line. Our commitment is to care for all ages at all stages of serious illness without regard to coverage or ability to pay, even providing an average of $200K+ annually in charity care.  Hospice of the Ozarks assumes financial responsibility for its operating expenses therefore, we depend heavily on donor support & fundraising efforts to maintain a high level of care & continue our mission.

  • A Place Almost Like Home

When care cannot be managed in their home environment, our inpatient unit, Hospice House, provides a quiet and safe haven for patients and families alike.  The Hospice House also offers Short-Term Inpatient, Respite, & Residential Routine care, and is not primarily just for the final days of life.

  • Unparalleled Expertise

The Hospice of the Ozarks dedicated, skilled care experts include board-certified physicians (a patient’s personal physician can remain involved in his/her care), RNs, CNAs, social workers, chaplain, and grief support specialists.  Along with a complete team of professionals, Hospice of the Ozarks has 50+, certified and trained, volunteers available to provide family assistance.  Our administrative team is also available to offer community education on a wide-variety of topics.

  • Countless Services

Hospice of the Ozarks’ core purpose remains to improve the quality of life in the last phases of an incurable illness.  Our program is designed to provide physical, social, spiritual, and emotional comfort for both the patient & family and therefore we offer services based on any individual’s specific needs.  Services such as palliative (comfort) care, skilled nursing care, medications, medical supplies & equipment, personal care and homemaker services, spiritual support, pet therapy, counseling and emotional support, transportation, volunteer support, bereavement care, nurse on call 24 hours a day, inpatient unit for symptom control, respite & residential care.

  • Groundbreaking Program(s)

Hospice of the Ozarks strives to stay in tune with community needs by participating in groundbreaking, national programs.  We are a national partner of “We Honor Veterans,” a pioneering campaign developed to support Veterans and reflective of their important contributions made.  The national “Pet Peace of Mind” program enables hospice patients to keep their pets at home, or rehome if requested, by providing support services and financial assistance as needed.  Hospice of the Ozarks is dedicated to valuing everything that is important to a patient and their family.

Message From Our Executive Director

Greg Wood, M.S., L.S.W.

Executive Director

Welcome to the Hospice of the Ozarks' website and resources. We have been providing hospice care in North Central Arkansas since 1979, and as one of the pioneer Arkansas hospices, established by community volunteers and leaders, we believe that every individual is unique, special and worthy of quality end-of-life care.

Today, we offer not only comprehensive hospice care, we also offer pet therapy, massage therapy, “Pet Peace of Mind” program, bereavement care, and educational offerings on a wide-variety of topics. We also acknowledge and support Veterans admitted to our Hospice through the “We Honor Veterans” program.

Hospice of the Ozarks is a Medicare-certified organization and licensed with the State of Arkansas Department of Health and active with the Hospice & Palliative Care Association of Arkansas, National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization and the National Council of Hospice & Palliative Professionals.

We look forward to offering services and programs to north central Arkansas for many years to come, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. As a not-for-profit and subsidiary organization of Baxter Health, there has never been a charge to our patients or their families for hospice care and this commitment remains a part of our mission. The only exception is if the patient/family chooses to rent a room as a residential patient at our Hospice House. We are able to provide quality services because of the community’s dedication and commitment to support our mission, and we are very grateful for that support.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please call our office at 870-508-1771 or email me at gwood@hospiceoftheozarks.org.
